Default A sad goodbye

Today I received a call from my Dad letting me know that our e46 had been picked up around noon today and was gone for good. After 175,000 miles it really was like a member of the family. She was donated to the Iowa education fund (I believe that is what he said at least) so at least she went towards a good cause. I still remember the day we went and test drove it as a family in April 2003 and then going back to Voss BMW a few days later to buy it. She was bare bones, no sport package or luxury package. I learned how to drive stick on that car. I also broke quite a few things working on it with some great friends that I would have never met had I not had the privilege of having that car for the past two years. Unfortunately it had become a bit of a nightmare and with me just starting my career I couldn't afford to maintain it so I have been driving our Honda CRV for the past month but every time I drive it I miss the e46 more and more. Unfortunately another BMW isn't in the cards right now. Anyhow that car will forever hold a place in my heart

That's a bummer. I spun a rod bearing in my e46 and had to sell it this past winter, and still miss it. It was a great daily city driver. You could always consider an e36. It wouldn't be as refined, but it'd be cheaper and easier to maintain. Lower it and have a little fun while tossing it around from A to B.
