Default Police Profiling

Anyone else ever get profiled out for having an nice/expensive/modded car??

I got a ticket this morning on the way to work, I was going 81 in a 70 (according to the police officer) I was traveling on the turn pike and in a 3 lane wide section with plenty of room; I was traveling in a group of vehicles in which we all were speeding...but he turned his lights on and picked me out of the group to pull over.

General stuff ensued (license/registration/proof of ins) and then he asked why I was speeding, I said late for work (which was true)--he responds with "Well I'm going to give you a citation then so you can tell your boss a jerk cop made you late"

I get that yes I was truly speeding and yes I technically was deserving of the ticket, I'll pay it and move on with my life, but its the point that my car was targeted.

I've been pulled over 19 times in my life (10 years of driving) and up until I had the 135i, I didn't have a ticket cited and I was going faster than anything I've done in the 1 series (well, anything I've been caught for)

On my way to work this morning cops had people pulled over all over. If he got you with laser, he got you. if radar, usually the bigger car or point car gets it.

It was your red wheels. After all, nothing says "Ticket Magnet" more than red wheels....er, a red car.

In all seriousness, I'm sure it is because of the holiday weekend. I live in a rural area and the state patrol has already been out in full force this week.

BTW, love the wheels. Do you have the coral red interior, too?

Sure do; I was torn between the red and a high metallic blue of the same nature but had to go red because of the interior... I don't regret it at all

I think it's time for an Escort.... not the kinda that can get you in trouble when it's really a cop but the helpful kinda that finds cops. (LINKY)

Profiling is picking a specific individual out of a group based on visible/observed differences. I was in a group of cars that he had to 'move' several over in order to get behind me to pull me over. I was neither in front or in back; just driving within the flow of traffic in the center lane (cars literally all around me)

So yes I was profiled out. I'm not whining about it or complaining, I'm going to pay the ticket and move on with my life... I was just making conversation about my morning commute/day. I'm aware I was speeding and I deservedly was pulled over; not really a big deal

PSA: Speeding this weekend without laser jammers is a really bad idea, red wheels or not.

FTFY

They were out heavy this morning. Saw 3+ people pulled over and at least another 5 cruisers just hunting, and this was at 8am. I can't imagine what the evenings are going to be like.

you want to talk about profiling... I've been pulled over for not signaling into a turn lane at a stop light.

check out the WAZE app, it allows people to flag cops so you can see them on your route

Yea, most likely he wanted to make someone's day, so he chose you...lol

Last year I was coming home from an autocross and just zoned out and wasn't paying attention to speed.

Cop was in the far left lane, I was in the far right...and he slowly moved on over behind me in-front of a car pack and flipped on his lights.

Claimed I was doing 20 over, which I don't think I was...but I got out of it. Admitted guilt, told him I was driving 2 hours home from a motorsports event (helped I had my helmet in the car) and got out of it. Didn't help I was driving the Z.

Anyways, on another note...dude, why are you getting pulled over so many times?

Awesome app, I've been using it for a while now. Rarely have I seen a cop that wasn't already tagged.

We were driving through the Canton area this morning on 77 North and OSP had about 5 or 6 cars in rotation shooting cars for speed and chasing them down near the Arlington Road exit. This is not a good weekend to press the speed envelope :-)
