Ordered my LSD from VAC today. Went with the OS Giken TCD.

I'll drop off the car sometime the 2nd week of August I guess. I'm travelling abroad for a while, so the guys at Turn In Concepts will have my car for a few weeks to do the LSD, break it in, change the oil, install a front sway and maybe to the walnut blasting if it's necessary.

So jealous. You're car is going to be a monster. Fresh intake manifold, fresh oil, fresh locked up rear tires. I feel bad for the pavement

Please Please Please do share. That is high on my list. Did you use a brush? I've seen it done with gun cleaning kits. I'm very anxious to see a legitimate DIY on this

Didn't take good enough pictures for a DIY as i used my phone. I followed mostly this guide: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=520922
Only takes about an hour-hour & half to get to get everything off. One thing to be carefully of it the vacuum line on the manifold. Had a very hard time getting mine off.

I used the b12 chemtool and let and sit. That plus a shop vac and compressed air to blow it out. I used my paintball tanks since i dont have an air compressor haha. I had a gun cleaning kit but didn't really need it after letting them sit for a while. Have an automatic but it took all of 3 minutes to remove the fan and turn the valves.

82k miles. First time being cleaned.

If anyone wants help when you do yours let me know.

Yours didn't look to bad if I am seeing enough in the first pic. I take it yours doesn't burn to much oil?

Yeah. I switched to AmsOil 20k miles ago and haven't burned any oil since. I was expecting them to be a lot worse. Cylinders 4 + 5 had very little carbon on it. Was hard for me to take a picture of with my phone. Still solved my misfires at WOT though so it needed it. Idle has improved a lot as well but still isn't perfect. Trying to figure that one out, anyone have any ideas? Will most likely get it dyno'd next week on e85. Still need to install my intercooler though.

Man, I wish I had a compressor and a shop vac and a garage and a day off and 'b12 chemtool.'
I have also noticed mine idles 'rough.' And I use that loosely. I can hear my engine running and a very slight vibration at idle, which is more than I'm used to with past BMW's. I've more or less written it off, however I don't have any misfires to worry about. Thanks for the quick photos, if I could get the tools together I'd be down to have a little OB.c manifold cleaning party.

I would be happy to help you install your intercooler if you would help me clean the carbon buildup off of mine! Don't really expect it to be all that bad at 39k (running meth since 33k) but every little bit helps.

I am just south of Cincinnati so were only about 2hrs 1 direction or the other.

Sounds good to me! Although my intercooler is a 'big tom' so it will require some modifications. Either way i can help you out with the valves.

would love to hear everyones idle for comparisons, mine has a very slight stumble every 10ish seconds, but it doesnt dip the rpms, just gives it a slight vibration.

I have installed a ER, AA, and HPF unit on different cars thus far. And I was actually thinking about selling off my AA for the BigTom (for cosmetic reasons only) so this would be a good one for me. My weekends are jacked up through Aug but my September is free. Shoot me a PM and let me know what dates your free and we can knock this out man!

Mine is smooth as glass most of the time. But both my 07 and 09 would have that miss feel at idle with no dip in idle. I could feel it in the shifter to. The last BMW software update on my 09 got rid of most of it.

I also went to firmware 7/22 this morning. Can really hear the turbos spool up even with hardly touching the gas. Now if I can get my fuel economy back running 35% E85.

Yeah I've been reading up on that. Worth the effort to update?

Yes, But I averaged 12.5 mpg this morning with 50/50 highway/city but I was having some fun. BTW, do you still notice that vibration at full load and boost in 5th and 6th gears at real low RPM's?

Anyone having over boost problems
I am hitting 18 to 19 psi in 4th,5th, and 6th gear under sustained full throttle with overboost safety at 18! Car reverts to stock which really sucks at 120 to 140 mph. Car does not show any CEL that I can see when the transition occurs (and I am watching for it) and I have to restart to get map 5 back. Any other JB users here with the same problem?

I set mine to 18.5 and haven't had an issue yet. You're not running e85 are you? If not you shouldn't be boosting more than me (unless meth but last I checked you're not). Maybe its the new firmware?

I'm going to troll n54tech today and see what I can come up with. But the overboost when my car did it was the same. No CEL, no lights, just a 'thud' and base map. Restarted the car, and all was well.
