Default Killer 2.0

Our 997.1 Turbo was totaled back in October and I've been searching for just the right replacement ever since.

With the help of a Rennlister I was able to track this one down and get a deal done on it then waited for it to get shipped here. The car exceeds my expectations it's absolutely immaculate inside and out.

2011 Turbo S
Current mods - GMG Springs, HRE wheels, Sharkwerks bypass pipes

Planned - Cobb AP is sitting in the garage and will go on soon. The Champion intercoolers from my old car will be mounted when the new hose kit gets here then I need to figure out a high flow cat setup or full exhaust to bring it all together.

...since it's primarily my wife's toy here's a shot of here about to take it out for an initial spin.

Awesome car! Is there any noticeable difference between this and the 997.1tt?

From an overall platform perspective they're not drastically different cars.

The largest difference is the PDK transmission which was the largest struggle for me. I'm a bit of a purist at heart who was hesitant to adopt the dual clutch technology, but ultimately it's a great setup.

The other "big" difference if you are an enthusiast is no more legendary Mezger engine. The 997.2 turbo is a DFI 9A1 engine. Displacement is up to 3.8L and power is better across the board. Turbo S 997.2 power is up to 530 up from 480 hp in the 997.1

Smaller differences include updated electronics both interior and exterior, center lock wheels, for us ceramic brakes are new but you could option them on the 997.1 cars our old car just didn't have them.

Something I didn't think I'd give two ****s about were a lot of the small options...but they do make it seem a little more special. We went from a low option .1 car (132k sticker new) to a really high option car (180k new)

That's a nice looking ride! Are you done installing the intercoolers?

You know...I never went that far this year. I did a Cobb access port with a standard Off-the-shelf stage 1 tune. The car went 10.9 @ 129 on the 20" wheels and with a decent amount of wheel spin.

I have MAP sensors and cat delete pipes that will allow me to skip over stage 2 and go straight to their stage 3 maps and if I'm happy with everything I"ll do a custom tune at that point.

Back to the intercoolers though, the 997.2 Turbo S came with the same intercoolers that were on the GT2 RS which is a large step forward from the intercoolers that were on our old 997.1. I'm still evaluating how much, if at all, the units I have sitting there from the old car really are over what's in the car now. Just not 100% convinced it's worth the effort. Then again I'll need to pull the whole damn thing down to change plugs to go to Stage 3 so it's not like it'll be that hard to mount them at that time.

I'll let you know when it's warmer and I actually tinker with it again.
