Default Review: ECS Tuning BMW front Floating Rotors

I've been eying this set of floating rotors from ECS Tuning since I converted to the front Boxster/Cayman S front caliper setup forced me to use E46 M3 rotors. They just happened to be looking for people to review some products.

What a stroke of luck!!

We traded PMs, they sent me an invoice on Wednesday, parts showed up today

It was an easy job

The rotors drop ~3lbs per corner, and they look great. I had spoken to ECS some time ago (about 4 weeks or so ago) and they tell me their development R8 had used this setup on a lot of track events and they performed well

And before you point it out, no they aren't mounted backwards. The vanes go in the proper direction. The slot and hole patterns aren't in the same direction as the vanes (something I found odd). The holes, additionally are chamfered to reduce the chances of stress cracks forming; that was a nice unexpected feature

Ultimately, I'm not doing any more track events this year or autocrosses so I won't be able to push them hard yet, but I will drive the car until first snow threatens Central Ohio, at which point the E38 becomes my sole car

Now, I want my damn hug from ECS

But why do we bother doing anything that's pointless. What would Leonardo Da Vinci have done if a management consultant forced him to run a P&L on the Mona Lisa? He'd stab the son of a bitch in the eye with a charcoal pencil. Then he'd go invent the helicopter.

Engineer or Pitch-man, the jury is out!

They look nice, hopefully they'll hold up to the abuse next year too!
