Default Newbie..

So I finally decided to get a BMW. I've owned a ML430, RX300 & MDX in the past.. I traded in my 2009 MDX for a 2008 BMW X5 4.8i. Love it so far.. $91K miles. Also bought a 3yr, $36k warranty (Mechanical Advantage care) with CNA National thru the dealer (Nissan North). Should I take my BMW to a mechanic and do a general health check? Also, any general advice is very much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! I don't know much about the X5 and its reliability or trouble areas, so I'll leave that to the more knowledgeable folks on here. Congrats on the new ride

if you have HIDs i would strongly recommend against it especially if you have adaptive lights.

You will need to take out the headlights and bake them in the oven to soften the adhesive. not sure i would want to bake those headlights

I'm getting just the halo rings - http://www.luxangeleyes.com/products/lux-h8-160 . They are not adaptive, are they?

@justacarguy, do you do most of the maintenance work yourself or do you have a mechanic you can recommend that's reasonable. I think I'd be interested in getting the spark plugs replaced & the dreaded alternator mount gasket, filter replacements etc. I bought the 3yr 36k warranty , so I'd be getting the water pump replaced thru warranty.. Thanks again !

I do it myself, if you buy the parts and bring beer, we can knock all that out in an evening, but if you want a shop, you wont find much better than John and Anson over at Best, they have always helped me out with parts and advice when needed.
